This is a tea we can really nerd out on. GABA stands for gamma-amino butyric acid, an amino acid which is one of the main neuro-transmitters in human central nervous systems. During processing the tea leaves are placed inside a pressurized vacuum barrel which is then infused with nitrogen. This causes the natural glutamic acid in the tea leaves to be converted to GABA. This neurotransmitter assists in reducing anxiety and fear, help controls mood swings, improves mental focus, helps a person feel more centred, clear and balanced, and provides a general sense of well-being. There’s a lot of research on GABA; if you’re interested to know more the Wiki page is a good, though technical start.
