Jin Jun Mei (aka “golden eyebrow”) is a relatively new black tea and has become one of the most popular and expensive black teas in China.

The story goes that in Summer 2005, a tea company official and some customers representing a tea market were visiting some producers in Tong Mu village. They were sitting in a shady spot and one of the tea market representatives noticed a worker heading towards the tea fields in the heat of the day. Feeling empathy for the worker, he recommended picking only high quality material to improve earnings for the workers. The worker picked only single new buds, which were then withered and rolled by hand. And so a very high quality black tea was born, gleaming dark and gold rolled buds with up to 1500 buds per 10g. The tea liquor famously has a flavour profile of flowers and honey and is smooth and mellow with a deep lasting finish.
