A gondaobei (公平杯, “fairness cup”), is a pitcher used in the gong fu brewing style to ensure all guests receive tea of identical strength and flavour. The tea liquor is first poured from the teapot or gaiwan into the gongdaobei – which also allows some cooling – then into individual cups. It is also known as a cha hai (茶海), or “sea of tea”.
